Has done nothing recently oops. Still need to put up a thing for Sean meeting her "grandmother" while chasing down his paintings, remember when I was going to do that because I would get on that sooner [hysterical laughter]

Circling back to 'Katherine accidentally opens a doorway to a hell dimension' maybe as a thing, it was originally going to end with her trapped there and thus dropped but maybe not??? Maybe it's just a thing she does and then people are mad at her for since not nearly enough people associate the name Katherine Pierce with Bad News. So it'd be like... Katherine comes acros ritual that might allow her to get out but requires sacrifice of [insert something here, maybe a random NPC idk], someone interferes and without the right ingredients it's just an open portal, brief period of Demon Problems for Demon Problem Solvers to have fun with, someone puts things right/forces Katherine to put things right/imprisons Katherine for it? That last one would be so she could call in her favor from Rin, that's gotta come up again somehow.

(Even if we belatedly get the other Imprisoned Katherine thing going I am prepared to have imprisoned as a theme since... Katherine Pierce)

Ellie
I was thinking the other night as I am wont to do about the Last of Us and Joel, and about how as it goes on there's a degree to which he doesn't so much love Ellie as he does the idea of Ellie, seeing her as the substitute daughter figure he wants to see and ignoring the darkness and the damage she's accumulated on the way, and then I got worried that I'm doing the same thing and leaning too heavy on, I don't know what to call it, Fun Ellie that's interested in things and is vibrant. BUT at the same time: the giraffes thing! So then I think TLOU is as much about the peaceful moments and how the damage doesn't go away but there's always things that work and hope and it's alright. But maybe I should do a bit more with 'Ellie is messed up'? I mean, like, there's some great stuff on that note in this thread she has with Katniss, and it creeps up other places, I guess I'm just gonna keep it in mind.

Anyway, RILEY as always the Biggest Deal in her life -- I should really do a post for her or something so she can mention it to the folks she knows -- is now also living in the group home or will be shortly (?), so that's interesting and awkward and comes right as she's about to get on her emancipated minor train which means she has to try to behave for a few months. With her traditional bad influence now under the same roof, so, that is a thing.

But I figure she'll manage it and then get a place? On her own. Like for all her complicated Joel-related emotions he remains the only person she'd probably live with on the basis that he's the one that reliably endures. (Although he as yet isn't here, so maybe that opinion is taking damage? I'll have to think on that.) She probably wouldn't go for Riley moving in like that just the two of them for Various Other Reasons.

Jessica Drew
My biggest 'are people just tolerating her is she boring idk' character for some reason, again, idk, I'm vacillating wildly. Whatevs I'll throw her everywhere because I love her and I felt the Wiper stuff went well, and now we officially have Kirin and Kirin's Horn and Hydra in town so she got stuff to doooo.

ON THAT, I joked at the time about just doing a series of Jessica-fights-dudes posts, and I am legitimately curious, what do folks want most out of the next Jessica Drew EP? Her in civvies doing regular person things for regular person tagging, or fighting my next NPC villain? (I'm thinking the next one would be a brother-sister mercenary team with Kirintech called the Akimbo Twins, robbing a something or doing a mercenary something.) Or, I don't know, option three, suggest.

Beyond that, I'll have to come up with a plot for some Kirin's Horn dudes to be trying to execute, to be foiled by... maybe needing a team? I need to follow up her lead on The Wiper -- he got his stuff from Kirin -- so either she can confront Mr. Kioku with someone but because she don't got nothing on him she can only do that gesture with the fingers and the eyes emphatically at him (originally there was a Doakes gif here but then when looking for character gifs BAM a miracle happened see above) or their radical splinter group can have some nefarious scheme that needs a team assembled to take it down. But she still maybe gotta meet some people and learn they got powers before I give her a needs a team reason. So maybe the first one.

And in that version, then after I do a series of NPC villain posts -- and maybe other people do as well I encourage it do it do it it's fun -- they'd form like a Subpar Six and that'd need the team?

Then there's the thing with there being a bunch of Avengers coming, and getting an in-game reason for her not calling them, and for assembling all teens (the tricky part being, for instance, why would she not call some of the powered non-teens she knows, I want Darrow Ultimates to be on theme but where is the age line agh idk idk) and stuff. Stuff! Things! I'll work it out.

Non-character related
I mean, precisely, I have a couple of potential folks and then got to thinking in relation to some of them, what if Darrow PD started like a Special Cases section? The idea being that I saw a thing with Ron maybe joining, and Korra works there in non-enforcement but, like, what if either a player character who worked there got permission to or the NPC Cop Boss set up a division for investigating the increasing Weird Crimes. So that then like characters with powers could join the force and not necessarily hide their special skillz? But maybe the rest of the force'd call them the Special Headcases or something?

And, like, the idea of doing it that way instead of having Darrow Torchwood or a Darrow SHIELD or something become officially affiliated is that it's not like, putting anyone who wants to join the official Darrow government force under any other canon's umbrella. So not like "SHIELD is more official than your canon's thing that is a similar thing." IDK.

I don't even know how that'd fit in with what I was thinking for Judge Anderson since Special Cases (name pending) doesn't seem like it'd allow for Psychic Beat Cop Cassandra Anderson and that's what I'd want to do

I love Jessica never make her go away, I love reading her narrative, I love reading her internal monologue, I love everything you choose to do with her the end; I would like to tag her with all of mine. I wouldn't mind more action-oriented EPs from her but I recognize that I am a really action-plot minded person and some people prefer quieter, more cerebral sorts of threads. I'd love more Jessica whomping on things but also wouldn't say no to just her in her civvies, or her in a daramtic moment having drama or whatever.

is barnaby a SASSY TEEN jess's team is for SASSY (or non-sassy I guess sassiness is optional there will be lessons) TEENS. Separate from I presume there will be a Sassy Adults Superteam. Which there should be!

But then like that's my issue, IG there's not exactly a reason for her to set an age-limit even though I wanna do Sassy Teen Superheroes with her squad. So idk.

he is NOT a sassy teen superhero, as he is twenty-five. although I mean as far as justifying an all-teen super-team goes, I actually think it might be justifiable in-game wiuthin the next month or so? We just got a Bruce Banner obv. and Di and myself are planning on apping catbeard and farrah hair Tiger and Bunny and Lauren iirc is apping Tony Stark so pretty soon there will be a healthy pool of adults to mobilize themselves to make splitting up the demographic into an A and B Team (or you know, two A Teams) more reasonable.

Yeah, and it kind of follows that with all these big-time proper superheroes showing up and with one of the things I have going with her/want to portray is that she's sort of that age where she feels like the world expects her to be a Capable Functioning Adult but she doesn't exactly feel that way--

I mean, don't we all, continuing into OLD AGE, but specifically with reference to teenagerhood and early independence

--and with them all being from different universes it'd make sense that she'd maybe try to recruit herself a new team rather than trying to make it with the big leagues.

I always find that really interesting anyway -- that is, seeing super-types dealing with being at that sort of age, where not only are they learning to deal with the fact that there's never any magical thing as Grown Up but also dealing with the fact that they still have to decide for themselves what kind of 'hero' they themselves want to be, idk I am in FULL SUPPORT of seeing Jessica get her issues worked out as she develops in game ok the end.

If Katherine's shenanigans result in her needing legal representation or simply a morally corrupt ambiguous grey advocate, maybe keep in mind I have someone who excels at that and is used to supernatural types.

Also I heart Jessica and have had so much fun with her and Alex (who is unfortunately neither superpowered nor a teen, but she does score points for sass) whether they're beating up baddies or craving fried sweet things. (I'm still kicking myself for not coming up with the idea of Alex claiming to have played the Pink Ranger though)

Exactly. And it's not like Alex is old; she's 22. Plus, she's used to being treated like Not An Adult in canon because she's the baby of the team. I don't think the Hero Lifestyle is going to be a hard sell. Alex is starting to make some tentative plans.

Also I think it'd be really fun to see how both of those shrewd types do around one another. >_> He is also a Demon Problem Solver so that could be convenience.

Ellie - Ugh precious. Reading your section, I wonder if it might be at all interesting to throw Sawyer her way? Iii still need to watch more movie-version The Last of Us, but there seemed to be some overarching similarities from what I did watch, probably as a result of difficult circumstance. hit me if I'm being too broad-brush sweeping generalization maker And naturally, I would love throwing Korra more at her, especially if things get sticky, since Korra isn't so great with the sticky situations.

Jessica - I love her so much and want to start throwing a myriad of characters at her, because she is absolutely phenomenal. Similarly to Lys, I really love the action-based EPs. They are my favorite. But I would tag her in a civvie context too, so really just any of her, more of her. Lys already mentioned the T&B heroes above, but if I get my reserve, I would love to throw him at Jessica, because they're both humor-loving, intuitive and intelligent folks with a good set of heroic motivations.

Non-character - Special Cases section would be da bomb, really. I think it'd be wildly encouraging of cross-canon relationships, which are some of the most delightful and unexpected to me, and yes.

Keep ideating because you are stellar at it, A+ would read again.

Let me know if I can help out! It's your brainchild so I don't want to overstep, though I do have Shikamaru already acting as a detective in the PD. I kind of assumed that he probably had more of the unusual cases shoved his way after it was clear that he liked taking them up, so that could be one option.

In my mind, the pros of an NPC are that they make it extremely accessible for all, but the cons are whether or not that's as effective in play, particularly where character motivation is concerned. Like, my characters wouldn't trust a Darrow native, and if even non-native NPCs don't really like to acknowledge their outside roots, that still leaves some skepticism.

ANYWAY my vague Group Home headcanons are that they're in separate rooms as Known Troublemakers, Ellie does have ways to sneak out and knows, like, the check-up cycles and stuff, ummm she rents a storage locker which is where she keeps her guns and shizz -- she might mention that in the thread as a place for Riley to keep hers -- aaaand the 'Ellie tries to keep to the rules' won't start just yet, whenever I next post for her figuring out how to apply for emancipation and such.
