Small instances of plenty still surprised her, sometimes. It made sense they'd have a counter for them, that people would be able to rent them out, and yet it was still sort of startling to be able to just say her shoe size and they'd have one. No searching every time and maybe settling for something you could stuff with newspaper.
Although she'd mostly had good luck with shoes, which was lucky, considering how much walking they'd ended up doing.
"Uh, like a seven and a half," she said. "He does this a lot, huh?"
Oddly, sort of a relief. It suggested she wasn't being singled out here, that there wasn't motive beyond the obvious.
